SAMPLE RIDE FILES
Below is a list of ShadowBox-generated ride files (.RID) that you can download and check out for free in Ridetracker. We'll be adding more and more to this posting as people send us good rides, so check back often!
Download and store these files on your computer in your Ridetracker folder. Once downloaded, it is easy to open a file as you simply click on the Folder icon at the top left of the Ridetracker program and open up one of the stored .RID files found there. Have fun! Now you need a ShadowBox to record and check out your own rides!
Here are some basic tips on viewing a Ride File in Ridetracker:
1. When you have a .rid file open...play around with the many camera and playback controls at the top and bottom of the screen. Slow motion, zoom in/zoom out, frame by frame are all possible. Rotate and pan the camera by clicking the mouse on the view screen and dragging it to a new position. Change the camera angle to an underwater view via the up/down arrows at the top of the screen!
2. Check out all the raw physics data happening on the rider's board at any point in the ride. Keep in mind the following:
a. Jump Height is shown both on the yellow bar, and as a numeric readout in the lower right of the screen…speed is there too.
b. Your acceleration in G's is noted as the 'Z' reading; and -10.0 is considered "1 G". Thus…if the reading says "-25.6", then this is about 2.5 G's on the board. Of course, one's knees soak up a lot of this by bending…but this is what the board is going through moment to moment.
c. Spin rate is also very interesting…and you can really see how fast the pros are spinning about the Z axis when doing a 720, 1080, etc.
d.There will be many updates to this program as we get feedback on what you all most want to see.
GOOGLE EARTH EXPORTING
You can view any recorded ShadowBox ride in Google Earth!!!
To do this, simply open a ride in Ridetracker and click on the Earth/Arrow Symbol at the top left of the screen. After clicking this symbol, you will be prompted to name the Google Earth file for saving. Once done, the ride will open automatically in Google Earth.
*We highly recommend having the latest version of Google Earth running for this application. It may also take a bit of time to load, depending on your internet connection. Get the latest version of Google Earth here:
http://earth.google.com/#utm_campaign=en&utm_medium=ha&utm_source=en-ha-na-us-bk-eargen&utm_term=google%20earth%204
While looking at a ride in Google Earth, be sure to zoom down to the water surface so you can see each trick, and exactly where it occurred. Full object rotations are shown here in 3D as well.
FIRMWARE UPDATES
We will be offering free updates as we open up the ShadowBox's use for more and more sport and science applications. Check back often!
Download the latest firmware for your ShadowBox below. Check to be sure you need an update first via the following procedure:
Turn on your ShadowBox, go to SETUP, go to ADVANCED, go to ABOUT. Your current firmware version will be noted there (e.g. Firmware 01.004). If the below available firmware is the same as you already have on your box, you don't need an update. If it's a newer version, go for the update.
Click the file below to download.
